Crossing Dates was selected in competition at Cottbus International Film Festival (Germany) and at Goa International Film Festival (India). Another selection was announced for January 2009, at Goteborg International Film Festival. 'Anca Damian's CROSSING DATES functions like Robert Altman's SHORT CUTS: Seemingly chance encounters, the supposedly unmotivated meeting of people are presented in an interwoven narrative whose loose stands are finally brought together in a common patchwork of life.' (Cottbus Film Festival Press Release)
Crulic - The Path to Beyond, gets the grant from CNC (National Cinema Center) .
Crossing Dates will have the international premiere in Pusan International Film Festival. crossing dates is invited to screen at the 44th Chicago International Film Festival, October 16-29, 2008. The film would participate in the World Cinema program which presents the best from established masters and exciting new visionaries. last year films by Denys Arcand, Catherine Breillat, Joseph Cedar, Sidney Lumet, Jiri Menzel, Mohsen Makhmalbaf, Ermanno Olmi, Fernando Sarinana, and Zhang Yang screened in this program.
An intelligent script is the key selling point of "Crossing Dates", a relay drama that offers multiple viewpoints but has difficulty demonstrating why they're pieced together. With prison as her centerpiece, novice helmer-scribe Anca Damian folds together life in and out of the slammer, underscoring her characters' disappointment and inability to grab what life has to offer. Though the three storylines don't play to equal strengths, Damian reveals enough budding talent to warrant interest in future efforts.
